SPLIT ROCKER VASE

Star artist Jeff Koons is returning to the mega-gallery after a four-year hiatus with Pace.

Previously, over the course of two decades, Gagosian did 13 solo exhibitions with Koons at its branches in Beverly Hills, Hong Kong, London, and New York. In 2014, at Rockefeller Center in New York, Gagosian presented the Pop king’s Split-Rocker (2000), a massive sculpture combining the heads of a toy dinosaur and pony that is covered with over 50,000 flowering plants.The Whitney Museum of American Art hosted a Koons retrospective in 2014 its Madison Avenue location—its last major show there before decamping to its new Downtown home in the Meatpacking District.

Koons has also had landmark exhibitions at Versailles in France (in 2008), the Schirn Kunsthalle and Liebieghaus in Frankfurt, Germany, in 2012, and the Palazzo Vecchio and Piazza della Signoria in Florence, Italy (2015).

In Europe 1600-1815 over 1100 objects from the V&A’s collections of 17th- and 18th-century European art and design are displayed in a suite of seven galleries. The collection comprises some of the most magnificent works held by the V&A, including spectacular examples of textiles and fashion, painting and sculpture, ceramics and glass, furniture and metalwork, prints and books. Many objects were made in Europe by its finest artists and craftsmen for the period’s most discerning leaders of taste such as Louis XIV, Marie Antoinette, Catherine the Great and Napoleon.

Anomaly

Paul Viollet est directeur artistique dans la publicité, s’il aime profondément son métier, il reste tout de même conscient qu’il y a une frustration permanente car il ne faut pas perdre de vue que la publicité n’est pas de l’art.Anomaly a donc certainement vu le jour à partir de cette frustration professionnelle. Car, qui plus est, dans la publicité, les règles ne sont pas les mêmes et la recherche d’esthétisme, ou d’imaginaire sont des ingrédients, pas des finalités.

C’est donc en parallèle de son métier que Paul a petit à petit développé ce projet, toujours en cours et grandissant depuis 2017 (plus de 200 images à ce jour).

Anomaly est avant tout un projet personnel ; pour le pur plaisir de l’image et de l’esthétisme.

S’il fallait résumer le projet en une phrase très simple : Anomaly ce sont des images qui n’existent pas. Ce qui rend le travail intéressant est d’être en permanence à la frontière entre le réel et l’imaginaire.L’idée est de se rapprocher de la réalité par des jeux d’ombres, de teintes, de perspectives et de composition ; mais à y regarder de plus près, la scène ne pourrait exister dans le monde réel.

Anomaly est un terrain de jeu incroyable où les possibilités semblent infinies. C’est un travail de composition à partir de 2, 3, 4 images. L’association de ces images crée l’anomaly.
